Surface Meteorological parameters such as temperature, relative humidity, wind direction and speed, rainfall, evaporation, dew point temperature and station level pressure at ITER Centre are recorded everyday at 08.30 and 17.30 hours IST. Besides these, temperature, relative humidity, rainfall and station level pressure are recorded on chart round the clock using autographic instruments.

Weather Research Forecasting Model (WRF) is run remotely in IITM , Pune ADITYA server for generating weather forecast for 72 hours of Odisha state and neighborhood. Using WRF model products, other global model products through their websites and local observed parameters, weather forecast for significant events for state of Odisha is prepared time to time and supplied to registered users through Director, Publication, SOA.

Now casting of thunderstorm and lightning block wise are generated using lightning detection system (LDS) data of IITM, Pune, Earth Network, USA & NRSC, ISRO, Hyderabad and transmitted to registered users through whattsop.

Ph.D. Students carry out research in the field of Meteorology on topics of Climate, climate change, climate variability, thunderstorm & lightning, monsoon variability and analysis of past tropical cyclones.
