Centre For Re-Productive  Health

Inspired by the fact that more women die due to pregnancy related causes in India than anywhere else in the world and India faces the greatest challenge of population stabilization, the Centre for reproductive health was launched to address reproductive issues. It focuses within the ambit of reproductive health that would enable a responsible, satisfying and safe sexual life with the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so.

As an edifice of a premier university in India with the several complementing institutions, the Centre has been partnering with the state family welfare department and UN agencies to provide services to the community at large on reproductive issues.

Overriding the myth that infertility is not a problem in countries with high fertility rates, the Centre also addresses an occurrence termed “barrenness amid plenty”. Infertility tends to be the highest in countries with high fertility rates and India is no exception.

Hence, many aspects of infertility management are obscure that seeks intensive research on reproductive physiology, cell and development biology, pharmacology, biotechnology and biomedical engineering. The Centre for Human Reproduction is working towards addressing efficient management of prevailing infertility in the community.
