Recognizing its contribution to technical and professional education, the University Grants Commission (UGC) declared Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University U/S 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, in the year 2007. Since its inception, Siksha O Anusandhan University, along with all its constituent institutes, has shown impressive progress regarding knowledge, skills, and human and material resources. This has been corroborated by its accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of the University Grant Commission (UGC) with an “A++” grade in the year 2022 based on its overall performance.

About DBT Builder Program

Department of Biotechnology (DBT) provides support to establish interdisciplinary Schools of Life Sciences for advanced research and education in universities known as “DBT-Boost to University Interdisciplinary Life Science Departments for Education and Research (BUILDER)” The overall aim of this program is to foster interaction of existing departments of universities and invigorating interdisciplinary modern bioscience research.

SOA-Bhubaneswar has been selected as one of the few Universities under the DBT-BUILDER to establish an Interdisciplinary Life Science Programme for Advanced Research and Education (Level II) for the period of five years with effective from 17th Feb 2022. Several faculty members working in the faculties of pharmaceutical sciences and biotechnology, at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SOA, Bhubaneswar are collaborating to carry out the objectives of the sanctioned project.

The major focus of the Program:

Generating interdisciplinary groups for collaborative research efforts on the thrust areas of life sciences including infectious diseases and cancer. Strengthening and updating infrastructure for research activities including drug design, drug repositioning, formulation, natural product-based drug discovery, proteomics, genomics and pre-clinical validation. Developing central instrumentation facility with dedicated technical manpower. Organizing frequent training programs to train manpower in the above areas of life sciences.
